Prof. Dr. Salvatore Sauro

Dr Salvatore Sauro is currently a professor (Titular ANECA) in dental biomaterials at the “Departamento de Odontología, Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud, Universidad CEU-Cardenal Herrera”, coordinator of the "Dental Research" and Director (Principal Investigator) of the research group "In Situ Dental Tissues Engineering and Minimally Invasive Therapeutic Adhesive Rehabilitation". He obtained his PhD in "Dental Biomaterials Research Pre-Clinical Dentistry" at King's College London Dental Institute, where he continued his scientific work as a postdoctoral fellow and then as a research associate in "Adhesive Dentistry and Dental Bioactive Materials Research." Dr. Sauro has been working in research on dental biomaterials, preventive and minimally invasive dentistry research for more than 15 years (Scopus: H-Index: 49) and he has published, in collaboration with internationally renowned researchers, more than 200 articles in international peer-review journals with high impact factor in the dentistry and dental materials field, along with more several research abstracts and lectures in international conferences. He has contributed to dental materials science with new research findings on dentine bonding systems, the remineralisation of the resin-dentine interface, and the enzymatic degradation of dentine collagen. Dr Sauro has three patents so far; he was involved in 3 research grants, including 1 as PI. Most recent grants and patents: “Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (PID2020–120346 GB-I00) and a patent on the calcium phosphates tailored with different concentrations of fluoride salts used in this study (ES2716942/ WO2013014325A1). Dr. Sauro was (2021-2022) president of the Dental Materials Group (DMG) at the International Association of Dental Research (IADR). He is also part of several peer-reviewed journals' "editorial board" and an associate editor of the International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives (IJAA) dental biomaterials session. Dr Salvatore Sauro has appeared in Stanford/Elsevier's Top 2% Scientist Rankings since 2019.
