Mr. Omar Ali

Omar Ali, BSc(Hons)Pharm, DipClinPharm, MRPharmS, ACPP is a pharmacist, healthcare payer and market-access expert with more than 30 years of experience across the UK healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. He currently serves as Head of Payers at Verpora, where he works with pharmaceutical and life-sciences companies on market access, pricing, reimbursement, value communication and payer strategy.

Omar spent approximately 10 years working with NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence), including as a government payer involved in the assessment of medicines and healthcare technologies. He also served on NICE's External Reference Group for Cost Impact Modelling and subsequently as a panel member of the Adoption & Impact Programme Reference Group.

At Verpora, he leads a global network of more than 150 current and former payers covering Europe, the United States, EMEA, APAC and Latin America. He has supported more than 100 pharmaceutical and life-sciences organizations, helping companies understand payer expectations, strengthen value propositions and prepare for pricing and reimbursement negotiations.

Omar is also an experienced speaker, lecturer and author. His areas of expertise include value-based agreements, innovative contracting, health technology assessment, pricing and reimbursement, market access and payer decision-making. He has been a visiting lecturer at institutions including University College London, the University of Portsmouth, the University of Surrey, and universities in Lisbon and Barcelona. He has also authored more than 35 publications.

He regularly participates in international pharmaceutical and healthcare conferences. His upcoming 2026 engagements include the World Orphan Drug Congress Europe 2026 in Amsterdam, where he is scheduled to deliver a keynote on rare-disease pricing and payer perspectives, and the VirtueInsight Pharma Pricing, Reimbursement & Market Access Conference 2026 in the United States.
