Dr. Walid Al Hussin is a Consultant Neonatologist at Zulekha Hospital Sharjah, where he serves as Head of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). He completed his MBBS at Damascus University in 2000, followed by pediatric residency training at Children's Hospital, Damascus University, and obtained the Arab Board Certificate in Pediatrics in 2005. He subsequently trained in neonatology in Saudi Arabia, working as a registrar in the Neonatology Department at a military hospital in Tabuk. He joined the Saudi Neonatology Fellowship Program in 2010 and received his Saudi Board Neonatology Fellowship Certificate in 2012. He was promoted to Consultant Neonatologist in Saudi Arabia in 2013 and later served as Head of NICU at King Khaled Hospital, Ministry of Health, Saudi Arabia, until 2016. Zulekha Hospitals
During his time in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Al Hussin was also involved in the Ministry of Health Neonatal Service Improvement Program, serving as Regional Director for the North West Region. He later worked in the UAE as a Consultant Neonatologist with Medcare Hospital Group before undertaking a Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, which he completed in 2020. He subsequently joined Zulekha Hospital Sharjah. Zulekha Hospitals
His clinical interests include the management of extremely premature and growth-restricted infants, neonatal ventilation, neonatal nutrition and growth, neonatal resuscitation, and neonatal neurology and developmental follow-up. Zulekha Hospitals
Dr. Al Hussin has also contributed to neonatal and pediatric research. His publications include work on ductal-dependent congenital heart disease and prostaglandin E1 complications, neonatal fractures, congenital oral abnormalities, neonatal listeriosis, and VACTERL-H in newborns.
