Dr. (Mrs.) W. G. Samanthi Konarasinghe is a Sri Lankan statistician, mathematical modeller, academic, and statistical consultant with more than two decades of teaching, research, and consulting experience. She serves as Academic Director and Statistical Consultant at the Institute of Mathematics and Management in Sri Lanka and has also served as Head of Academics at IMM Australia since 2022. She has held teaching positions at institutions including the University of Colombo, APIIT, SAITM, and other higher-education institutions. Institute of Mathematics and Management
Dr. Konarasinghe holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Peradeniya, a Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Mathematics from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, an M.Sc. in Applied Statistics from the University of Peradeniya, an MBA from Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, and a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Peradeniya. Her research has focused particularly on mathematical and statistical model development, applied mathematics and statistics, time-series forecasting, econometrics, data analytics, and mathematical/statistical applications in medicine and healthcare. Her doctoral research resulted in the development of the Circular Model (CM) and Circular Indicator (CI), while she has subsequently developed models including the Sama Circular Model (SCM), Damped Circular Model (DCM), and Forced Circular Model (FCM). These models have been described by IMM as applicable to areas including economics, finance, agriculture, meteorology, medicine, and other fields. Institute of Mathematics and Management
She has also been active internationally as a keynote speaker, invited speaker, plenary speaker, resource person, and conference chair. Her documented presentations have addressed subjects including infectious-disease modelling, mathematical modelling, econometric modelling, statistics, forecasting, and applications of mathematics to real-world problems.
