Dr. Mohamed Sheta is a Consultant Neonatologist and Consultant Paediatrician based in Dubai, UAE. He has more than 20 years of experience in neonatal and pediatric medicine and has developed particular expertise in the management of critically ill newborns, premature infants, neonatal respiratory problems, and pediatric emergencies. He currently serves as Head of the Neonatology Department (HOD NICU) at Saudi German Hospital Dubai.
Dr. Sheta earned his M.B.B.Ch. from Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt, in 1999. He subsequently completed a High Clinical Diploma in Pediatrics and Neonatology from Zagazig University in 2006, followed by a Clinical Master's degree in Pediatrics and Neonatology from Ain Shams University in 2012. He obtained the MRCPCH (UK) in 2014 and holds GMC registration, reflecting his UK postgraduate pediatric qualification.
His professional development has included extensive training in neonatal intensive care and perinatal medicine, with particular experience in respiratory support, mechanical ventilation, neonatal resuscitation, and management of extremely premature infants. Saudi German Hospital lists his expertise in caring for infants from the limits of viability, including babies weighing around 500 grams or less when clinically viable, as well as postoperative NICU patients and high-risk deliveries.
Dr. Sheta also has expertise in functional transthoracic echocardiography (FTE) and advanced neonatal procedures. One of his major professional projects is the planned establishment of a neonatal and pediatric ECMO/ECLS service at Saudi German Hospital, which is listed by the hospital as under development.
Before joining Saudi German Hospital, Dr. Sheta worked as a Consultant at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group from 2015–2022 and previously served as a Consultant at Riyadh Care Hospital from 2013–2015. He subsequently moved into his current leadership role at Saudi German Hospital Dubai.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Sheta is active in medical education and professional conferences. He has served as a speaker at numerous pediatric and neonatal conferences and has participated in workshops focused on neonatal mechanical ventilation. He was also listed among the faculty of the 14th Pedia Dubai International Pediatrics & Neonatal Conference in 2026 as Consultant Neonatologist, Consultant Paediatrician, HOD of NICU, Professor of Pediatrics at SUH, and Head of the Educational Neonatal Residency Program.
