Dr. Louisa Wickham

Dr. Louisa Wickham is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in vitreoretinal surgery and serves as Chief Medical Officer of Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. She trained at St Mary's Hospital Medical School and Moorfields Eye Hospital and holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. She completed an MD research degree examining surgical management strategies for proliferative vitreoretinopathy. She became Chief Surgeon at Moorfields in 2019 and Medical Director in 2020. In 2022, she became the first National Clinical Director for Ophthalmology at NHS England. Her professional work includes clinical leadership, retinal surgery, service development and ophthalmology policy and education.
