Dr. Khalid Al-Thihli, BSc, MD, FRCPC, FCCMG, is a Senior Consultant Clinical and Biochemical Geneticist at the Genetics and Developmental Medicine Clinic, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH), Muscat, Oman. He is also affiliated with the Department of Genetics, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sultan Qaboos University.
His clinical and academic work focuses on clinical genetics, biochemical genetics, inherited metabolic disorders, rare diseases, genetic diagnosis, and genomic medicine. His research has included inborn errors of metabolism, genetic disorders in the Omani population, metabolic stroke, newborn screening, and molecular diagnosis of rare genetic conditions.
Dr. Al-Thihli has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. His recent research includes work on SLC52A3-related Brown-Vialetto-Van Laere syndrome, CA5A deficiency, and other inherited metabolic and genetic disorders. His Sultan Qaboos University research profile records more than 70 research outputs and identifies his current affiliation with the university's Genetics department.
He is also active in regional professional organizations and medical education. He is a founding member of the Middle East and North Africa Medical Genetics Association (MENA-MGA) and is associated with organizations including the Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders (SIMD) and the Middle East Metabolic Group.
