Sidra Medicine / Weil Cornell Medicine, Qatar
Husam Kayyali is a pediatric neurologist and epilepsy specialist based in Qatar. He currently serves as Chief of the Pediatric Neurology Division at Sidra Medicine and Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. He is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar.
Dr. Kayyali is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Pediatric Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Epilepsy. He obtained his medical degree from Aleppo University in Syria, completed pediatric neurology training at the University of Missouri/Children’s Mercy Hospital, and subsequently completed fellowship training in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
Before joining Sidra Medicine, Dr. Kayyali was an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Neurology at the University of Missouri–Kansas City and helped establish the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Missouri. He later worked at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Saudi Arabia, where he served as Head of the Pediatric Neurology Section and Director of the Pediatric Neurology Fellowship Program.
His clinical and academic interests include pediatric epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology, complex epilepsy management, epilepsy surgery, ketogenic dietary therapies, and neurostimulation therapies. He is also a Fellow of the American Epilepsy Society and has received recognition for his research and scientific contributions.
