Professor Hassan Morsi is a Consultant Gynaecologist and BSGE-accredited Endometriosis Specialist in the United Kingdom, with extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic surgery, deep infiltrating endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, fibroids, adenomyosis, and complex pelvic surgery. He currently works at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, as part of the Manchester BSGE-accredited multidisciplinary endometriosis team.
He graduated from Ain Shams University in Egypt in 1992 and completed his PhD research in Germany in 1999. Following advanced laparoscopy training at the James Cook University Hospital Endometriosis Centre, he became an NHS Consultant in 2007. His specialist experience in deep endometriosis has been developed through more than two decades of complex surgical practice and fellowships/training in high-volume endometriosis centres in France, Austria, Germany, Iran, Italy, and Switzerland.
He previously led the endometriosis service at Russells Hall Hospital, where he helped achieve BSGE accreditation for the Dudley Endometriosis Centre in 2018. He subsequently contributed to the development of another endometriosis centre in Egypt, which received accreditation in 2023. He has also completed Level 2 Neuropelveology training, adding specialist expertise in the management of complex pelvic pain and pelvic nerve-related conditions.
Professor Morsi has a substantial role in surgical education, particularly advanced laparoscopy. He has delivered laparoscopic suturing courses and simulation training and regularly teaches retroperitoneal anatomy. An earlier BSGE course program identifies him as the Course Organiser, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Lead for Laparoscopic Gynaecological Surgery at Russells Hall Hospital.
His academic work includes research in laparoscopic surgery, endometriosis, minimally invasive hysterectomy, and complications of gynaecological laparoscopy. His publication record includes research on minimally invasive hysterectomy and laparoscopic complications, with more recent work on umbilical endometriosis published in 2025.
