Dr. Hamad Abdullah AlMadi, MD, RDMS is a Saudi consultant in Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and Emergency Ultrasound (POCUS). He is currently associated with Prince Sultan Military Medical City in Riyadh and serves as an Assistant Professor at Alfaisal University College of Medicine. He is also a Vice Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Society for Pediatric Emergency Medicine (SPEM) for the 2025–2029 board term.
Dr. AlMadi completed his MBBS at King Saud University College of Medicine in Riyadh. He subsequently completed his Saudi and Arab Board training in Pediatrics at King Saud Medical City, obtaining his pediatric qualifications in 2008. He then completed a Saudi Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh in 2011.
He pursued additional subspecialty training in the United States through a Fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Harvard Medical School, Boston, from 2013–2014. He subsequently became ARDMS-certified as a sonographer in 2014.
Dr. AlMadi has built his career around pediatric emergency medicine and point-of-care ultrasound, with particular expertise in using bedside ultrasound to support the rapid assessment and management of acutely ill children. His current clinical role is as a Pediatric Emergency Medicine consultant at Prince Sultan Military Medical City, while his academic appointment is at Alfaisal University.
Earlier in his career, he worked in the Pediatric Emergency Department at King Saud Medical City. He also served as Executive Director of Patient Affairs at King Saud Medical City from 2018 through the end of 2019, demonstrating experience in healthcare administration in addition to clinical medicine.
Dr. AlMadi has contributed to research examining the use and education of point-of-care ultrasound in pediatric emergency medicine in Saudi Arabia. He was a co-author of a 2017 study published in the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine that examined the clinical and educational use of POCUS among pediatric emergency physicians and fellows in Saudi Arabia.
He was also a co-author of a 2018 study investigating adherence to clinical practice guidelines for the diagnosis and management of group A beta-hemolytic streptococcal pharyngitis in pediatric emergency departments. The study aimed to identify shortcomings in guideline adherence and support improved educational programs and local clinical guidelines.
Dr. AlMadi is a Vice Chairman of the Saudi Society for Pediatric Emergency Medicine, whose mission is to advance pediatric emergency care in Saudi Arabia.
He is also actively involved in POCUS education and medical training. At Alfaisal University, he has supervised hands-on POCUS workshops covering ultrasound fundamentals, eFAST, cardiac, lung, abdominal, and vascular-access scanning. A recent Alfaisal University initiative reported that more than 130 medical students and interns had been trained across three editions of the workshop series.
