Dr. Fatheya AlAwadi is a prominent UAE Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetes specialist based at Dubai Hospital, Dubai Health. She is currently Head of the Endocrine Section/Department at Dubai Hospital and serves as President of the Emirates Diabetes & Endocrine Society (EDES).
Dr. AlAwadi completed her postgraduate studies at the University of Glasgow, UK, before returning to the UAE and continuing her medical career with the former Dubai Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS), now Dubai Health.
Her professional qualifications include MSc in Diabetes and Endocrinology, FRCP and FACE. She has developed a long career in clinical endocrinology, diabetes care, medical education and research.
One of Dr. AlAwadi's notable contributions to diabetes care in Dubai was founding Dubai's first diabetic One-Stop Shop Clinic. The service brought together specialized clinics including diabetic nephrology, diabetic antenatal care and thyroid services, creating a more integrated approach to diabetes and endocrine care.
Dr. AlAwadi has been extensively involved in diabetes and endocrinology research, with more than 80 peer-reviewed publications according to her current conference biography.

She was a co-author of influential research investigating how Ramadan-focused diabetes education, glucose monitoring and treatment adjustment can improve the safety of fasting in high-risk patients with diabetes.
She also contributed to research examining glycemic control among patients with diabetes across Dubai's primary and tertiary government healthcare sectors, using a five-year dataset.
In 2016, Dr. AlAwadi and Dr. Mohammed Hassanein received an Al Jalila Foundation Research Grant for a diabetes research project titled "Reducing diabetes complications in high-risk groups during Ramadan." The project focused on identifying high-risk diabetic patients who fast during Ramadan and developing strategies to reduce complications.
Dr. AlAwadi has played an important role in promoting endocrinology and diabetes education in the UAE and the wider region. Under her leadership, the Emirates Diabetes & Endocrine Society has developed educational and scientific activities and helped attract major international endocrine meetings to Dubai. She has also served as a member of the International Society of Endocrinology Executive Board.
She continues to participate as faculty and scientific leadership in major regional meetings, including the 16th Emirates Diabetes & Endocrine Congress 2026.
