Dr. Ather Jafri

Dr. Ather Sajjad Jafri is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Al Qassimi Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Emirates Health Services (EHS), Sharjah, UAE. He has extensive international experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, having trained and practiced across Ireland, Oman and the UAE.

He completed specialist training in psychiatry in Ireland and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych). He subsequently undertook higher specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, completing his specialist certification before working as a consultant in the field.

Before moving to the UAE, Dr. Jafri practiced in Ireland and Oman, including an academic affiliation with Sultan Qaboos University. Since 2018, he has worked at Al Qassimi Women’s & Children’s Hospital, providing specialist outpatient child psychiatry care as well as consultation-liaison services to pediatric teams.

His principal areas of professional interest include ADHD, adolescent mental health, child and adolescent psychiatric services, and mental-health service development. He has also contributed to research examining child and adolescent psychiatry training and service provision across the Middle East.
