Dr. Amjad Obeid is a Consultant in Adult Emergency Medicine and Head of the Emergency Department at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. He is double board-certified in Emergency Medicine and has more than 25 years of experience in emergency medicine, disaster medicine, and road-safety and injury prevention. He holds a Master’s degree in Disaster Medicine from Italy and an MBA from ESSEC University in France. He has also completed executive emergency-medicine leadership training at Harvard University and a Faculty Development Fellowship at George Washington University.
Dr. Obeid has extensive experience in emergency preparedness, trauma education, and road-safety initiatives. He served as a World Health Organization focal point for seven years and was the National Data Coordinator for three global WHO road-safety reports. He is also a regional faculty member of the American Heart Association and an instructor in BLS, ACLS and PALS, as well as an Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor with the American College of Surgeons. He has participated in teaching and examination for the Saudi Board Emergency Medicine residency program for more than 10 years.
Beyond hospital-based emergency medicine, Dr. Obeid has a significant role in motorsport medicine. He has served as Chief Medical Officer for the Bahrain Grand Prix since 2006, is a member of the FIA Medical Commission, and has served as an FIA Medical Delegate for Formula 1 races since 2023.
