Dr Alison Burrows was born and raised in New York City and has been living in the UAE, working exclusively in the education sector, since 2009. Dr Alison completed her Doctor of Education at Johns Hopkins University, where she researched educators' technology self-efficacy and created a programme to increase educators' ability to teach meaningfully with technology. She was the recipient of two merit scholarships and received The Aileen and Albert Schiffman Fellowship in EdTech Research. Dr Alison completed her Master's of Education at New York University in New York City and received her Bachelor’s degree in Development Psychology from Bard College in New York. She also holds a professional certification in teaching from the New York State Department of Education and a certificate in Montessori Education.
Outside her role as a university lecturer, Dr Alison is a recognised consultant in digital wellbeing and meaningful learning with technology for children. Her work bridges neuroscience, attachment theory, and digital wellbeing, and empowers schools, parents, and organisations to raise resilient, confident children in the digital + AI age. She designs and delivers evidence-based programmes to educators, parents, and children, as well as keynote addresses and corporate workshops that help families navigate technology use with intention and balance.
