Dr. Abdulaziz Jaham Al-Kuwari is a Qatari orthopaedic surgeon specializing in complex spinal disorders and a senior leader in sports medicine. He is closely associated with Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha, Qatar, where he has served as Chief Executive Officer and Acting Chief Medical Officer.
He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Hamad Medical Corporation. He subsequently completed a two-year Complex Spine Fellowship at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, where he also obtained a Master of Science in Spine Biomechanics.
His clinical expertise includes complex spinal disorders, spinal trauma, spinal tumors, adult and pediatric spinal deformities, scoliosis, degenerative spine disease, and minimally invasive and open complex spine surgery
Leadership & Other Achievements
Dr. Al-Kuwari has played an important role in developing sports medicine and healthcare collaborations in Qatar. In 2022, he signed an MoU between Aspetar and Qatar's Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) to strengthen sports-medicine training and clinical collaboration.
He was also involved in an MoU between Aspetar and the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) focused on education, research and healthcare innovation.
In 2021, he was among the Aspetar leaders involved in the safe resumption of professional sports competitions in Qatar during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He has chaired the Qatar International Spine Conference and has participated in numerous local and international spine conferences.
