Deanne August

Dr. August has two decades experience in Neonatal, Paediatric and Women’s health care; including retrievals and operating theatre. She is recognised nationally and internationally as an expert in neonatal skin integrity and injury assessment; supported by a track record (>50 publication), 441 citations, H-index of 11, international invitations, and translation to local and international practice guidelines, (PhD completed 2022 neonatal skin injuries). Her clinical experiences have cultivated a drive to improve clinical practice; with focus on minimisation of negative care sequalae focused in neonatal care and skin integrity. Her early career research programme is competitive including reviews (scoping and systematic), feasibility/pre-clinical, randomised control trials, implementation, longitudinal studies; with embedded clinical workloads and the neonatal/family experience evaluations. Her collaborative nature has grown a wealth of interdisciplinary outputs with Southeast Queensland Health Services including local and nationally competitive funding (n=7 service evaluations, n=10 single site studies, and n=5 national/multicentre trials).
