Dr. Alhefdhi has been a principal investigator and co-principal investigator on several KFSH&RC research projects. These have included research into breast cancer characteristics in women aged 40 or younger, thyroid cancer prediction using preoperative biomarkers, breast cancer treatment delays, endocrine surgery outcomes and breast cancer with isolated liver metastasis.
She has also contributed to peer-reviewed research, including the 2022 study “Factors Predicting Positive Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Clinically Node-Negative Breast Cancer,” which examined predictors of positive sentinel lymph nodes in breast cancer patients.
Another publication, from 2023, examined the unusual coexistence of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1 (MEN1) and breast cancer in a young Saudi woman, demonstrating her research interest at the intersection of endocrine disease and breast oncology.
Her earlier work has also included research on primary hyperparathyroidism, endocrine surgery and breast cancer, including collaboration with researchers at the University of Wisconsin.
