The Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) is a comprehensive, evidence-based course developed by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) to strengthen nurses’ knowledge, clinical skills, and judgment when caring for pediatric patients in emergency settings. The Sidra Medicine course uses structured assessment, case-based learning, interactive teaching stations, and simulation to prepare participants for the rapid management of critically ill or injured children.
The ENPC focuses on the systematic assessment and management of pediatric emergencies, including respiratory distress, shock, trauma, fever, altered mental status, behavioral emergencies, and resuscitation. Participants learn to apply the Pediatric Assessment Triangle (PAT) and primary and secondary surveys to rapidly identify and prioritize life-threatening conditions. The course combines self-paced learning with classroom instruction, case-based discussions, hands-on teaching stations, and high-fidelity simulation. The programme includes respiratory, medical, resuscitation, and injury-based Pediatric Nursing Process scenarios, followed by competency testing. It is primarily intended for nurses, particularly those involved in emergency pediatric care. The course is designed to support consistent, evidence-based pediatric emergency care and strengthen clinical decision-making, teamwork, and communication skills.
