AO Trauma Masters Course—Knee Trauma with Human Anatomical Specimens

The AO Trauma Masters Course – Knee Fractures (With Human Anatomical Specimens) is an advanced three-day surgical education course taking place from 17–19 September 2026 in Amman, Jordan. Organized by the AO Foundation, the course is designed to provide orthopedic and trauma surgeons with advanced knowledge and practical skills in the assessment, planning, and management of complex knee fractures and related injuries. The course focuses on current concepts and techniques for the recognition, classification, and treatment of complex knee trauma. Participants will explore different approaches to challenging fracture patterns and develop a deeper understanding of the factors that influence surgical decision-making and treatment planning. Key areas of the programme include tibial plateau fractures, distal femoral fractures, patellar injuries, knee dislocations, and other complex knee injuries. The course also addresses associated soft-tissue and ligamentous injuries and provides opportunities to examine appropriate treatment strategies for complex clinical presentations. In addition to fracture management, the programme covers post-traumatic knee deformities and complications, including malunion and nonunion. Participants will also explore principles of deformity analysis, preoperative planning, and corrective procedures relevant to complex knee conditions. A central component of the course is the use of human anatomical specimens, providing participants with opportunities for practical, hands-on learning. Through specimen-based training, participants can develop a better understanding of surgical anatomy, approaches, fixation techniques, and operative strategies for managing complex knee injuries.
